The Detect 1000 is a specially designed vehicle for the detection of chemical substances and can be used in situations such as explosions, fires, chemical spills, chemical accidents or warfare attacks.
Using the onboard computers and analysis software, chemical substances present on the site can be detected and analysed. An assessment is then possible to determine the seriousness of the situation, the potential threat to the immediate area and the probability of the threat spreading.
This allows essential information to be quickly available to help decide the best way to treat the contamination and whether evacuation measures may have to be taken.
The Detect 1000 is based on the Mercedes Sprinter, a proven vehicle. The vehicle has been especially modified with axles tailored to the loading, and a lowered chassis allowing easier access. Different vehicle types and makes can be chosen. They can be modified to suit the customers specific application.
The interior is divided into two sections: the cab and the work area. The total capacity of the vehicle is for 4 persons.
The work area is equipped with chemical detectors, measuring instruments and computers. Integrated drawers and shelvesare provided together with extra storage compartments. It also incorporates work surfaces and sufficient display areas for maps and charts.
The Detect 1000 is fully air-conditioned with NBC protective filters. This protects the operators from contamination while at the same time providing a comfortable working environment.
The air is fed through special NBC protection filters with activated carbon and the vehicle is completely sealed. The aeration system operates with a constant overpressure in order to prevent contaminated air from entering the cabin.
The safety ventilation for the work area and the air-conditioning system are installed on the roof.
The Detect 1000 has a 12V electrical master power system which is extended by an additional battery providing reserve capacity. A petrol driven power generator is provided to run the computers, as well as any other 220V appliances.
The generator has an automatic start-up switch which can be operated from inside the vehicle.
Meteorological data is captured with transducers mounted on a pneumatically extendable mast. The mast is extended by use of a compressor. For protection, the transducers are enclosed on the roof. The mast is operated from the work compartment through the central switchbox.
Two industrial grade PC's are installed to meet the requirements of extensive measuring, analysis and evaluating. The built-in computers are shock-proof mounted, and are especially protected against dust penetration.
One computer is used for the contamination spread models. The other computer supports the gas analyser and contains the databases for substance determination, as well as security data sheets and data on hazardous substances.
