Decontamination
Roll-Off Decont Container Civil

The Fire Brigade of the State Town of Hanover has purchased a roll-off container (AB Decon Civil) for mass decontamination of civilians after an NBC-attack or after a HAZMAT incident.

OWR, the world leader in NBC decontamination, designed, developed, built and supplied the system.

It was handed over officially to Mr. Lange, Commander of the Hanover Fire Brigade in time to be available for the FIFA World Cup 2006® and will also be used for other large events.

The system consists of a container with four tents that are connected through tunnels. These tents serve as the undressing and dressing areas. The container itself comprises of two shower rooms and a machine room that provides all the technology necessary for the operation of the system.

For suitable treatment of injured persons, a special rail system was developed. This allows the moving and decontamination of injured persons though the container on a stretcher.

The capacity of the system is approximately 60 to 120 persons, or 15 injured persons per hour. The system has an automatic device for admixing various special decontaminants. As a special feature an external operator can control the shower by remote control or they can be operated from the inside as normal showers. In the case of non-critical incidents, e.g. floods or other natural disasters or even for large sports events, it can be used just as a mass shower.

The system can be set up for full operation by 3 to 4 trained persons within 10 to 15 minutes, including the set up of all four tents. It contains all necessary material, from protective suits for the operators, tents, accessories such as decontaminants, towels and temporary clothing for the decontaminated persons.
